The side bar on the right side of the web site includes information about specials being run (see coupons), an address and map to their headquarters, and an alphabetical list of the more than two dozen cities they service in the Kent County area.

(March 28, 2012) Grand Rapids, Michigan – Recently, Erik (last name intentionally withheld) spent a week at the Sub-Zero factory getting hands on training.

Beginning Monday, March 5, 2012, Erik was in training for a week at the Sub-Zero factory in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. At the factory, he was able to gain experience working on various models of refrigerators and ice makers by Sub-Zero. Wolf is another subdivision of Sub-Zero, and Erik spent time learning diagnostic and repair procedures for different ranges, wall ovens, cook tops, and warming drawers by Wolf.

Additionally, Erik spent time with the call center technicians. During this portion of the training, he learned how the personal in the call center gathered information, handled and diagnosed problems over the phone. Being a repair technician involves more than fixing equipment, it also includes making sure the customer is taken care of, and call center training can impact that.

As a bonus, Erik and all the other people in training were treated to lunches made and served by a Chef in the Wolf test kitchen.

(May 21, 2012) Grand Rapids, Michigan – Recently, Adam (last name intentionally withheld) spent a half week at the Sub-Zero factory getting his refrigerant handling certification and training on Sub-Zero products.

Beginning Monday, 15 May 2012, Adam was in training for a half week at the Sub-Zero factory. Included in the three days of training was a tour of the factory so repair technicians have an understanding of how the products are put together.

As part of his training, Adam took a class in CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) handling, and received his certification in handling refrigerants. This course is offered to those technicians who need it and is an industry standard.

At the factory, he was able to gain experience working on various models of refrigerators and ice makers by Sub-Zero and its subsidiaries. 

As a bonus, Adam and all the other people in training were treated to lunches made and served by a Chef in the Wolf test kitchen.

(January 25, 2013 ) Grand Rapids, Michigan – It is not often that a company, any company, reaches its 60th year of operation, but that is what E.D. Miller Appliance Service Inc. of Grand Rapids Michigan has done. The company was started in 1953 by Elmoine David Miller, and began by offering only service work for Frigidaire. At that time, they were the only factory authorized company in the Grand Rapids area.

The first employee of the company was Harold High. When Elmoine Miller retired in 1975, Harold purchased the company from him and continued to build the business.

In 1984, Mike DeYoung joined the company. Harold High continued to run the business until 1994, when he retired. When he retired, Harold sold the business to Mike and Teri DeYoung.

The business has continued to grow and evolve. Today the company provides warranty service for multiple manufactures, and does repair work on many other brands its does not yet offer warranty service for. In addition to now having an office manager, the company also has three service trucks to handle service calls for customers.

All of this growth and expansion was done with an eye on taking care of the customer. When the customer is taken care of, the customer calls Millers back when another appliance needs service. Additionally, customers refer others to Millers knowing they will be taken care of also.
